Week 4 - Self Study Part B
Hello once again folks. This is part b of week 4s self study where we present 2 to 3 game ideas to pitch in front of our classmates for the semester. Here are my ideas for games:
Game One:
This idea of mine will take the main theme Twin Stick literally wheres its a third person platforming racer where the characters are stickmen racing each other. The idea is that in either a player vs computer or player vs player, the objective is to get to the end with platforming elements as well as some powerups/obstacles that either give the advantage or a disadvantage towards a player. Within the prototype, it might include 1-2 functioning races that vary in design and the selection of three premade designs of stickmen, just enough to enjoy the gameplay of the game and if we get enough time, there could be more levels or designs. I would say this would cater more towards the competitive players but casual players might get some enjoyment out of it but i would say mainly those that can get behind platformers would really enjoy this (lindsay wont like this idea). And i would like to believe this game would work out because of its unique concept (stickmen) as its not common to see this style in the current gaming sphere so its uniqueness might work and a platformer racer is one i havent heard in a while, mainly played those in minecraft servers so it would be cool to see being a game on its own.
Game Second:
This idea will be an arena shooter where the camera is isotopic and the gameplay is done through controling the direction and movement of the player through two joysticks (twin-stick shooter). the objective would be to eliminate all enemies within the arena with guns that can be found within the arena. The prototype might include a few arenas with unique designs with varying levels of difficulty which increases/decreases fire speed and accuracy in each. This could be aimed towards just casual players because a twin-stick shooter is not too stressful to play and it could be calming but the higher difficulty might appetise the competitive players. Im not too confident with this idea as it does not have that unique thing just yet but if people like the general idea of it, im sure someone can come up with a unique idea for the game.
Game Third:
Get this...... Drum Hero. A turn-based rouge like rpg game with the main character is a drummer aiming to look for the celestial drum sticks. The adventure would involve wondering across the lands of musicalia, a land filled with music. Your main equipment is drums with changing drum sticks and with allies that use a different instrument as their weapon of choice. The enemie's design will have music inspiration as well as the world they will be in. This wont be explored but can be seen during battles as this is a rouge-like so expect progression. This idea is wishful thinking and a long-term project but it sounds fun to do but the prototype might include a few fights and a basic design of the idea. the target audience are definitely introverts and the undiagnosed for sure as this will be a game they didnt expect to like but will like out of nowhere (something like balatro). I think this might be able to do well but there might already be game out there thats similar but it might still hit the niche audience that will make this game do well.
This were thought of within a hour at 3:30 am so if this post didnt give a clear idea, just ask me directly but i hope these caught your eye and it would be pretty cool if one of these ideas becomes one of the games that is being made within the semester. Thanks for reading and ill see you within the tut.
